Remembering Il Grande Torino
Earlier this month the great Italian football club Torino celebrated it’s 105th founding anniversary. A time maybe to reflect on the tragedy that beset the club in 1949 when one of the greatest teams in world football was wiped out following an air crash. Nicknamed Il Grande Torino the team swept all before them, winning five consecutive Italian league titles from 1943 to 1949 and at times contributed up to 10 players to the Italian national team. They set many important Italian football records most of which still stand to this day.
